Scott Eugene Orcutt, 73, passed away on October 5, 2022. He was born on February 17, 1949, in Champagne, IL. He was the second of nine children. Scott is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joanne, and their four children; Jesse (Jennifer; s. Benjamin), David (d. Isabella), Amber (Milo), and Jonathan (Michelle; s. Abraham, d. Ida Louise). He is also survived by two sisters (Jan and Lani), and four brothers (Jeff, Van, Kit and Glenn). He held a Master of Science in Teaching, majoring in Chemistry, a Master of Theology and a BA in Biblical Education. Scott was an educator who loved teaching the Bible, Science, History, Math and Astronomy. He taught at Cardinal Gibbons for over 20 years and was an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University. As an active member of First Christian Church of Wilton Manors, he taught Sunday school and was a member of the praise band, playing the drums, guitar and singing. He served as youth Pastor at Grace Brethren Church while his children were in high school. He spent school breaks going on mission trips to Bolivia and Peru with South America Mission. Scott shared the gospel with everyone he met both here and abroad. His kindness and humor influenced many. As a youth pastor, he was a father figure to those who had none. As a high school teacher, he was a mentor and leader to his students. Scott knew and loved many people, but the most loved were his own dear wife, children and grandchildren. We will miss him dearly. We are comforted in knowing he is with his Savior, Jesus Christ. This world was not his home, he was just passing through. A gathering will be on October 14, 2022 in the evening from 7:00 to 8:30 pm and a Memorial Service will be held on October 15, 2022 at 11:00 am. Both gatherings will be at First Christian Church of Wilton Manors (2725 NE 14th Ave. Wilton Manors). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church of Wilton Manors OR to South American Mission (SAMAIR mission link: Missions Aviation with SAMAIR Bolivia--South America Mission).
