James Edward Hartley, 72, passed unexpectedly Monday, April 20, 2020. The son of the late James W. and Josephine M. Hartley, was born June 22, 1947 in North Philadelphia, Pa. Jim attended Archbishop Ryan High School and St Charles Borromeo Seminary where he received a degree in philosophy. He obtained his Masters in Social Work from Barry University in South Florida and was an advocate for mental health over 36 years professionally. He and his wife, Joan M Barone, were married on October 11, 1975 and spent a total of 46 years devoted to each other. He is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Jennifer Rebecca; son, James Renard as well as his sister, Geraldine; brother, Jack and his wife, Christine; his nephews, Matthew and Gregory along with his sister, Denise and her husband, Hal. Jim enjoyed reading sci-fi, watching sports, fine food, wine, and cooking. He was the love of our lives and everyone who was blessed to know him thought he was an amazing, decent, and fun loving man. Due to COVID-19 a celebration of his life in a Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 20, 2020, 1:00PM at the First Christian Church of Wilton Manors, 2725 NE 14 Ave, Wilton Manors.
