August R. Brown (Augie). 88, of Ft. Lauderdale on Friday April 6, 2018, Survived by his wife Grace of 58 years, Daughter: Robin (Scott) Holloway Grandchildren: Paul and Elizabeth of New Hampshire. Augie graduated from Bowling Green University and then received his Masters degree from Columbia University New York. Everyone referred to Augie as the “Marlboro Man”. He did one Marlboro ad, but Marlboro picked an older man instead of 27-year-old Augie do the Series. Since the rugged Cowboy Look was in It propelled Augie’s Career in modeling & TV Commercials. He was one of 10 Male Models to open men’s division of Ford Model Agency. His Career lasted over 40 years, never heard of in Modeling. He did 1000’s of Print Ads, 100’s of TV commercials and voice overs. He was referred to as the Babe Ruth of Male Models. His Passion for the ocean, began his love for free diving. His favorite spot was the treacherous waters of the Race at the Eastern end of Long Island, N.Y. around Montauk. He was the first free diver admitted to the prestigious Explorers Club n 1997. Member of the Clubs Legacy Society Committee, In South Florida chapter held vice chair: Program director, New membership. He also presented seminars on blue water free diving. What brought him the most joy is mentoring and teaching his daughter Robin free diving techniques and diving together. He and his wife Grace enjoyed the adventures of traveling the world. He deeply loved his family and was so proud of their individual accomplishments. He was a friendly generous man who had a vast array of friends who he cherished. He lived life to the fullest and lived by his saying “You can’t beat fun no matter how hard you Try”.
