On the afternoon of July 22, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer, Joy Minyard of Lake Worth passed away at the age of 85, surrounded by loved ones. Even though she had many serious medical issues in recent years, despite the pain, she stayed strong until the end. Joy was born to Sada and Lester Holt in 1936 in Walker, Arkansas. She received her high school diploma from the Griffithville School in White County, Arkansas. In May of 1955 she married her husband, Lee Minyard. After accompanying Lee during his time serving in the Army in various locations, including Germany, they settled in Fort Lauderdale where together they raised three children, Lyle, Mark and Karen. Joy was a homemaker as well as the bookkeeper for the businesses that she and Lee owned together. She was a kind and gentle soul who loved her family deeply and spending time with them was her favorite thing to do. Joy was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lee Minyard. She is survived by her son Lyle Minyard, son Mark (Jackie) Minyard , daughter Karen (Mike) Szymanski; her five granddaughters, Melissa (Luis) Carvajal, Kaylee and Lainey Minyard, Bailee and Gracie Szymanski; her two great-grandchildren, Liam and Owen Carvajal. The hole left in our hearts is deep from your absence. We will do our best to fill it with the beautiful memories of the best mother and grandmother anyone could ever hope for. We love and miss you more than words can say. Joy will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Lee inurned at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
