Nancy C. Sawallis died peacefully at home Friday, September 9, 2016, age 96. Born Nancy Eleanor Clonts in Muskogee, OK, on December 19, 1919, to Thomas P. and Eva M. Clonts, she graduated from the U. of Oklahoma in 1941 and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Robert F. Sawallis, who died in 1970. Moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1946, they built “Skunk Hollow,” a small cottage still in existence on NW 3rd Ave. in what later became the City of Wilton Manors. She was active in community organizations and a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and later City Church Wilton Manors. She is survived by her son Thomas R. Sawallis and his wife Pamela of Tuscaloosa, AL, her niece Kate M. Donohue of Wilton Manors, and grandnephews John R. and David H. Donohue of Maryland. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 15, 1 pm, at Richardson Historic Park, 1937 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors. Arrangements by Edwards Cremation & Funeral Services.
